This was the best dinner ever – Maddie and I made homemade pasta together!
Maddie joined me in the kitchen tonight to show me her skills at making homemade pasta! She just learned this recipe in her Food & Nutrition class and actually wanted to cook dinner with me!
Homemade Pasta Recipe
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 5 tbsp of water
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vegetable oil
- 2 eggs beaten
Combine flour and salt in mixing bowl. Create a ‘well’ in the center for the wet ingredients. Add water, oil, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix to form dough. On a lightly floured surface knead dough for about 5 minutes. Roll dough as thin as you prefer and cut strips to form Fettucine style noodles. Boil in salted water for 8 to 10 minutes.
The recipe was very easy. I do not have a pasta machine so Maddie was also showing off her noodle carving abilities!
I was in charge of rolling the dough. Needless to say my rolling pin and I have a love/hate relationship. Although the “Pin” and I have called a truce when it comes to making Cinnamon Buns. But it seems as though pie crust and now noodles appear to be doughs that the “Pin” thinks I should leave to the experts. 😦
Patrick and I had crumbled Sweet Italian Sausage with green and yellow bell peppers, and black olives on our pasta. Madeline went meat free and just had the peppers and olives on her pasta. The sauce was a Basil, Garlic, and Olive Oil tomato based sauce.
A nice salad and a loaf of French Bread made this tasty pasta dinner complete. Maddie cooking with me made this dinner a delicious memory that I will savor forever!! ❤

Thanks for reading!!

Sounds delicious! Homemade pasta is wonderful! The memories and time spent together are even better. I actually have a pasta machine, sadly, it hasn’t really gotten used since having my kids.

I liked the fat funny shaped noodles that Maddie cut by hand. It was awesome because this was the first time as a teenager that she WANTED to cook with me! I threw out some really strong hints that a Kitchen Aid Mixer with Pasta attachment would be a super Mother’s Day gift! 😀

Delicious! I might try this with gluten free flour. I found one that works pretty well. I was finally able to have delicious pancakes. Maybe now I can have pasta. 🙂
